Board our heritage steam train and head out to our remote station at Lynchford, once a centre for pioneers, adventurers and gold fever. Onboard, listen as our guide shares stories and guided commentary that will take you on a journey through the last 200 years, sharing the stories of the pioneering folk who once called the rainforest their home. Disembark at Lynchford Station and pan for gold or take in the Pioneer's Room before heading back to Queenstown with a new appreciation for the railway, its people, and its stories.

How It Works

WCWR offers two types of carriage journeys for each departure. All carriages provide comfortable, upholstered booth seating with good air flow and heating and cooling.

Our entry level carriage is our Heritage carriage, offering a comfortable train journey and opportunity to purchase snacks and drinks at Lynchford Station.

Wilderness carriages provide a more luxurious experience, with a little more space and carriage balcony. Start your journey with a glass of Tassie sparkling wine or juice with canapes and enjoy a Devonshire Tea service served onboard.

Heritage Carriage

  • Passengers can purchase snacks and Devonshire Tea from the kiosk at Lynchford Station and enjoy the peaceful surrounds.

Wilderness Carriage
