It was a very very very good experience. I enjoyed it, my wife enjoyed it, my child really really enjoyed it. The cafe at the zoo sold really yummy food. In particular, my child really really loved the ice cream, the one with some form of lollies in it. Parking was also great, it had plenty of parking.

Definitely a must do for families when visiting Auckland

Definitely a must do for families when visiting Auckland. The Zoo was extremely ‘open’ for all of the enclosures, the Zoo itself was clean and tidy and it was one of the better Zoos that our family has visited. The booking process was seamless which made the day smooth overall. Great day out for the family!

We took the public bus down which was about 5 minutes walk away

We took the public bus down which was about 5 minutes walk away. We did not print out the tickets but this was easily sorted with a trip to the information centre. The bird enclosures were the highlight and they were very well taken care of. We had difficulty seeing the kiwi bird as the lighting was too dim. The map was a little confusing as there was a huge area under renovations and we had to skirt around it. The kid zone was very sparse with 2 slides and a plain indoor playing area. Lunch options were also limited as we were vegetarians and the cafes didn’t have much. Overall, it was an okay trip but things would be better once the renovations are over.

We definitely couldn't leave Auckland without visiting the zoo

We definitely couldn't leave Auckland without visiting the zoo! We had a blast, first when we walked in we caught the otters, cute creatures, feasting on fish-heads, red pandas was another thrill lol - all in all we followed the map to the tee, which was fun for my 12 year old, and we stopped to have lunch, before we did the Pridelands, and last of all the kiwi. Lovely cool breeze throughout our day, lots of facilities around, great places for picnics, and even just for a quick stop for an ice-cream. We ended up spending 4 hours, which knackered me out by the end of the afternoon, very helpful staff, and I loved the volunteer staff, they always around for that bit of help when we were walking around in circles haha...Another good thing about the zoo visits the parking is for free!

This zoo is one of the best I have ever been to

This zoo is one of the best I have ever been to. I love that there are so many different animals there but more so the fact that I could see a lot of the NZ native animals. Loved the bird aviary - so beautiful! I also loved seeing the mere-cats through the little bubble tunnels. So cool!
